Welcome to Kingdom Embassys website. Thats rightit is official Harambee United Church of Christ has a new name; Kingdom Embassy Apostolic Training Center! Why? Was something wrong? Noit is simply a new season for our ministry!
A season is one of the major divisions of the year, generally based on yearly periodic changes in weather. In temperate and Polar Regions generally four seasons are recognized: spring, summer, autumn (fall), and winter.
There are other seasons as well; you can have tropical, dry or wet seasons. However special seasons are loosely characterized by hurricane, tornado, or wildfire seasons.
The season the world is in currently is called autumn or fall. According to science, it is the season of the year between summer and winter or from September to December in the Northern Hemisphere.
Autumn or fall is when a period of maturity begins to verge on a decline. The leaves change colors, fall to the ground and trees become bare as if they are dying. The days are shorter and the nights are longer, as if darkness is overcoming the light. It is also when the weather has more precipitation and the air is cooler.
What is happening is change or a new season. However, we must not be fooled by a period of maturity that is verging or on the brink of a decline because it is really not the end of something good its really a new season coming our way!
Like our church which began due to the declining of a once very vibrant St. Johns United Church of Christ (a predominately Eurocentric congregation, whos membership grew older and membership declined while theirs vision did not encompass the changing of the season of the neighborhood and they closed their doors in 1983.
But after the autumn and winter seasons of St. Johns UCC, a new season came and was founded on October 3, 1993 by the Rev. Dr. Lewis T. Tait, Jr. A man who had a heart for the Black community, taught from a Afrocentric perspective, took the opportunity of creating something out of nothing and birthed Harambee, unapologetically Christian and unashamedly Black; rooted in the Black religious experience and traditions. Following his mentor Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright in being and leading an African people to remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. Dr. Tait encouraged us from 1993 through July 1999, that it was God who had superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racismand we grew as a ministry and a people.
We grew and then it appeared as if the season of autumn or fall had hit Harambee in the middle of Julyonly to discover the verge of a decline was a new season for this ministry. We were not dying but as the leaves falling from the trees in the autumn we were evolving into our next season.
From a worldly point of view, it looked as if what was happening might be a new season but not a good season. In August 1999, The church was placed in the care of a 40-year old woman who had been saved and filled with the Holy Ghost when she was 14, a woman who was not perfect but had many ups and downs in life, a woman who was now beginning her first year of seminary, she was newly re-married with six (6) children, and was Christ-centered.
And now eight years later we are at the threshold of another season a new season a new beginning. The Lord has given us a vision that points us to His vision for not just our local church, but the region and the world.
A new season has a different name: winter, spring, summer, or fallHarambee has a new name..Kingdom Embassy.
What does Kingdom Embassy mean?
Kingdom = a government, country, state or population ruled by a king or queen.
Embassy = a diplomatic building where ambassadors live or work; A diplomatic mission in the capital city of a foreign country headed by an ambassador; Embassy grounds, although in a foreign country, are considered the national soil of the ambassador's country.
An Illustration of the Kingdom of God, here on earth, would be the United States Embassy in a foreign land (or any other nation's embassy). The Embassy is considered a piece of America, governed by America in a different country.
At this present time; Gods Kingdom here on earth is a spiritual one; where he reigns in the hearts and lives of those that have accepted his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and are submitting to his Lordship.
As born-again believers, we can be likened to the U.S. Embassy: we are governed by God, but we live in a world that as a whole is in spiritual darkness; where Satan still rules in the hearts and lives of unbelievers. The good news is that Jesus Christ made it possible to escape from Satans grasp and to enter the Kingdom of God, by translation at the new birth.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
We are no longer considered just mere members of a church or a denomination or a world-view system but committed ambassadors to the message of reconciliation and joining the spheres of influence (church, government, media, arts, finance, social services, sports, and business/finance) for total and lasting transformation.
2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christs behalf, be reconciled to God.
This church is called to be a church that is willing to serve, to train, to release. We are sent ones from the Kingdom of Heaven (apostolic) who have a mission (training) while we are on earth (center/embassy). And when this earthly tent is destroyed.we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Visit our website again as the Lord continues to unfold our mission and vision. I encourage you to come and worship with us. We would love to worship with you!
With the Sweet love of Jesus,
